This Mission Trail “fresh blend” is created with 50% California EVOO + 50% Chilean EVOO. Chile’s harvest season is opposite California’s, so this grower now leverages two harvests per year for a steady flow of fresh superior quality olive oil! What makes this buttery sweet olive oil so special is that these mission olives are carefully harvested at different points of ripeness for superb “dialed-in” flavors, keeping the late harvest sweetness and some early harvest pungent notes. Few millers harvest Mission variety olives, as it’s time-consuming, and yet they are the only variety native to California, and the only olive trees fully adapted to the California climate (many trees are well over 100 years old). Allowing part of the olives to remain on the tree for several months after most producers have completed their harvest is what makes this oil ever riper, buttery, and sweeter.
Try drizzling or spraying it on your popcorn with some sea salt or popcorn salt for a healthy snack you will crave!
